Visiting and dining in Mississippi River towns is a great way to connect with the River and fellow community members who care about the Mississippi's people, land, water, and wildlife. Check out these cool lists of River dining options: The Mississippi Valley Traveler's Best of the Upper Mississippi: Dining with a View and the Mississippi River Parkway Commission's Where to Find Outdoor Dining on the Great River Road. September Featured Webinar

There's something in the water, and it's harming people, pets, wildlife, and our nation's economy. From local waterbodies to the notorious Gulf of Mexico dead zone, algal blooms are wreaking havoc across our Mississippi River watershed.

At our featured September webinar, join Dr. Christopher J. Gobler (Stony Brook University) and Alicia Vasto (Iowa Environmental Council) to learn what Mississippi River states are doing to mitigate harmful algal blooms and how climate change is impacting freshwater and marine ecosystems. Professor Gobler will share his extensive research on the impact of climate change on harmful algal blooms (HABs), while Alicia Vasto will be speaking about nutrient pollution impacts (i.e. excess fertilizer) in Iowa, especially in light of the 10th anniversary of Iowa’s adoption of its Nutrient Reduction Strategy. The webinar is held via Zoom on Thursday, September 28, from 1 pm to 2 pm CT. You can register by clicking here.
