So, how is the Upper Mississippi River? Is it healthy? How do we know? Join us online on Thursday, June 13th, from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. CT for a webinar on an overview of 30 years of Upper Mississippi River restoration and ecological monitoring featuring U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Research Ecologist Jeff Houser, PhD, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) Wildlife Refuge Manager Ed Britton.
The Upper Mississippi River serves many roles. Congress recognizes it as both a vital commercial navigation artery and a unique ecosystem providing habitat for many plants and animals and abundant recreational opportunities for people. This river and floodplain ecosystem faces complex challenges resulting from the multiple functions it supports and ongoing changes in the surrounding landscape. Based on 30 years of habitat restoration and ecological monitoring and research by the Upper Mississippi River Restoration program, we will provide an overview of what we have learned and how we have learned about the Upper Mississippi River.
