Sign Petition - No More Dead Zone

Forecasted to be one of the largest on record, the 2019 Gulf of Mexico 'Dead Zone' has officially measured at 6,952 square miles (an area nearly six times the size of Rhode Island).

Fueled by nutrient pollution sourced primarily from agricultural and urban runoff, the Dead Zone is the epitome of upstream actions having downstream consequences and is bad news for the wellbeing of the River and those who rely on it.

Thankfully, proven solutions to reduce nutrient pollution exist but unfortunately are not receiving the priority and necessary funding from Congress at the scale that's needed. River Citizens, It's time to stand tall and together for the River!

Sign Petition For More Floodplains And Wetlands In River Management

Historic flooding in 2019 has left many many questions on the table for the future of River management. How do we rebuild? What approaches should be considered?

In this conversation, the Mississippi River Network is urging for the expanded use of natural, or green infrastructure, like floodplain reconnection and wetland restoration. These are natural elements of a healthy river system and act as 'safety valves' during high water events.
